I purchased a John Deere 320 X brand new in 2007, a 48 Inch cut with a Kawasaki engine V-twin FH66lV. The mower performed very well til I noticed I had a rat friend that chewed one of the coil wires into,, no problem, I replaced it with a genuine John Deere coil, and at the same time put new sparkplugs, oil, filter, and set the coil distance from the flywheel.. but the problems I did have seem to recur often,, the drive belt slips off, gets wedged and you have to take the whole deck off to put the belt back on.. cost me 85 bucks for a new belt,, the old one would have done but I said what the hey, I'll put on a new belt while its easy,, with the deck off.. taking it off was easy.. then, putting it back on. One retaining pin is hard as hades to put back in it's rightful place. but to make a long story short, throwing the belt became a habit.. I became an expert at putting it back on.. the control wires down to the carb seemed to stick (sometimes) too often.. I weathered that, the thing will run off of one cylinder and I being deaf could not tell only one piston was pumping for power.. that was a heck of a problem to work out. NOW, THE BIGGY,, the engine is hard as hades to crank when it is hot..sometimes I just have to let it cool down to crank it...oh, and get this oddity,, I have two mowers,, one John Deere and one Pro from Sears,, on the same day,, the transmission belt slipped off both mowers.. and it happened when I put them away,, I drove to the shed,, powered down, and next time to mower found BOTH THEM SUCKERS had thrown their belts on the transmission end..BOTH...NEEDLESS TO SAY,, I WENT AND PUT THE JOHN DEERE belt back own,, so much experience there putting on belts.. the sears mower,, well it will wait.. and then. I WENT AND BOUGHT A NEW HUSQAVARNA, I GOT TWO ACRES TO MOW, AND NOTHING IS WORSE THAN HAVING BOTH MOWERS BROKE DOWN AND IT'S SUMMERTIME..
